Velina Brown is a singer, director, award-winning actor, teacher, and columnist for Theater Bay Area Magazine

Velina is a two time Bay Area Theatre Critic Award winning actor, whose credits include work at the American Conservatory Theater, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, San Francisco Playhouse, New Conservatory Theatre, Denver Center Theatre Company, Shotgun Players, Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, The Eureka Theatre, and The Magic Theatre, as well as her television and film work. 

As a singer Velina has appeared in concerts around the Bay Area and in New York, and released an album of traditional anti-Fascist songs with Brooklyn-based band Barbez.

She also operates "The Business of ShowBiz," and writes a corresponding column for Theatre Bay Area Magazine,  In 2012 Velina was honored by Theatre Bay Area as one of the "35 Faces" that had made significant contributions to the Bay Area theater community.
